The OPC name format
An OPC’s name must end with the words “(OPC) Private Limited”. So the format is: [Your Unique Name] (OPC) Private Limited. The “(OPC)” tag is mandatory and signals to everyone dealing with the company that it is a one-person company with a sole member.
Naming rules (same as other companies)
Beyond the “(OPC) Private Limited” suffix, an OPC name must satisfy the usual MCA naming rules:
- Unique — not identical or too similar to an existing company, LLP or registered trademark.
- Not use prohibited or restricted words (e.g., words implying government patronage) without approval.
- Reflect the business where required, and comply with the Companies (Incorporation) Rules.
