PAN Card Tracking Status — How to Check Your PAN Application

After you apply for a PAN, you can track the status of your application online to know when it will be issued and dispatched. How you track depends on where you applied — Protean (NSDL), UTIITSL, or the instant e-PAN route. This guide shows how to check PAN card status.

Track a PAN applied via Protean (NSDL)

  1. Go to the Protean (NSDL) PAN status page.
  2. Select application type PAN – New/Change Request and enter your 15-digit acknowledgement number.
  3. Submit to see the current status (under process, dispatched, etc.). Status by name and date of birth is also available as an option.

Track a PAN applied via UTIITSL

On the UTIITSL track PAN page, enter your application coupon number (or PAN and date of birth) to view the status.

Track an instant e-PAN (Aadhaar)

If you used instant e-PAN on the Income Tax e-Filing portal, go to Instant e-PAN → Check Status / Download PAN, enter your Aadhaar and validate with OTP to see whether the e-PAN is generated and download it.

Typical status stages

  • Application received / under process.
  • Verification / objection (if documents need clarification).
  • PAN allotted / e-PAN generated.
  • Dispatched (for physical cards) with courier/post details.
