ESIC Employer Registration & Login: Process, Documents, Contribution Rates & Benefits
Every establishment covered under the ESI Act must register itself as an employer on the ESIC portal and obtain a 17-digit registration number before it can enrol employees and pay contributions. This guide walks through the ESIC employer registration and login process, the documents required, contribution rates and the benefits your employees become entitled to.
What is ESIC?
The Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme is managed by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. It provides financial and medical protection to covered workers and their dependents in cases of sickness, maternity, injury, disablement or death.
Who must register
An establishment must register under ESI once it employs 10 or more workers (20 in Maharashtra in some cases). Employees drawing wages up to Rs. 21,000 per month (Rs. 25,000 for employees with disability) are covered.
