Changes include One Person Company as a separate constitution of business with supporting documents for each constitution, a new SEZ Entity ID field, a separate section for e-commerce operators liable under section 9(5), standardised categories and documents for possession of business premises, details of up to 10 bank accounts (or within 30 days of the REG-06 certificate where not available), DIN of designated partners for LLPs, and online validation of CIN, FCRN, LLPIN and FLLPIN before the ARN is generated.

Action: If you are applying for new GST registration, review the revised form and keep the documents for your constitution and place of business ready before starting. GST registration support.

Official source: GSTN advisory: Important Changes in FORM GST REG-01 for GST Registration (1 November 2026)

Rule 14B simplified registration for sellers on e-commerce platforms

GSTN advised on 1 November 2026 that, pursuant to Notification No. 05/2026-Central Tax dated 26 October 2026, the portal now allows eligible suppliers selling goods through e-commerce operators that collect TCS under section 52 to register under the Simplified Registration Scheme in rule 14B of the CGST Rules. Such suppliers can register in a State or UT where they have no physical place of business, using approved ECO warehouse addresses as principal and additional places of business. Conditions include a regular active registration under the same PAN in another State, one such registration per State per PAN, output tax liability on supplies to registered persons not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh per month, and use of the registration only for supplies through e-commerce operators.

Action: Online sellers wanting to sell from an ECO warehouse in another State should check the eligibility conditions in the advisory.

Official source: GSTN advisory: Simplified Registration Scheme under Rule 14B of the CGST Rules, 2017 (1 November 2026)

Registration amendments other than principal place of business approved on submission

GSTN advised on 1 November 2026 that, following Notification No. 05/2026-Central Tax dated 26 October 2026 which substituted the provisions on amendment of registration, changes to the principal place of business will continue to be examined by the proper officer under rule 19. For other amendments, such as legal name, addition or retirement of partners, directors or Karta, and additional places of business, the registration certificate will stand amended on submission and online validation. Composition taxpayers, NRTPs, OIDAR taxpayers and ISDs, and regular, casual and SEZ taxpayers whose output tax liability is ₹2.5 lakh or less for each tax period, will have registration cancelled by electronic approval once the required returns are filed in time.
