FSSAI is an abbreviation used for Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. FSSAI license is mandatory before starting any food business. All the manufacturers, traders, restaurants who are involved in food business must obtain a 14-digit registration or a license number which must be printed on food packages.

This step is taken by government’s food licensing & registration system to ensure that food products undergo certain quality checks, thereby reducing the instances of adulteration, substandard products and improve accountability of manufacturers by issuing food service license.

Types of Food License

  • Basic Registration: For Sales < 10 Lakh per year
  • State Registration: For Sales of 10 Lakh to 2 Crore per year
  • Central Registration: For Sales > 2 Crore per year ​

Documents Required

  • Declaration form
  • Authority letter
  • Copy of Property paper (If owned property) Or Rented Agreement (if on rent)
  • Food Safety Management System Plan
  • Electricity/ Water bill (Business Place)
  • Copy of Aadhar Card of Owner(s)
  • Copy of PAN Card of Owner(s)
  • Board Resolution in Favor of Form IX
  • Form IX: Nomination of Authorised Person
  • Blueprint/layout plan of the processing unit
  • List of Equipment and Machinery
  • Pesticide residues report of water
  • Medical report of employee
  • List of food category desired to be manufactured
  • Power consumption report of machinery

With Each and Every Documents properly filled and documents uploaded in the portal, You will need to Prepare “Form-B” for which online payment is to be made. This Form B is then submitted dully signed by the owners and Authorised signatory, with entire documents to the regional Food License Authority.

After submission and inspection of all the documents, the Food Inspector will issue a certain date of Inspection. On the date of inspection, some authorities will visit your premises, and will provide with N.O.C. This NOC Certificate when presented to the Food Inspector, will issue a License.
